VERY DIFFICULT: Although Tom Simpson did not win the race pictured, (look very closely at the photo) in which road race was this photo taken? (5 Points)

A. Tour of Flanders

C. Paris-Tours *
D. Giro di Lombardia

* In the picture Tom Simpson, the World Champion in 1965, can be seen riding a chain with a fixed gear.

In attempt to slow down the race the 1965 (and 1966) edition of Paris-Tours was contested without dérailleurs.  Riders were limited to two gears, a single front chain ring and 2 rear cogs.  Each rider had to change gears the same way it was done in the 1930’s, loosen the rear wheel and manually move the chain onto the chosen rear cog.  Much to the dismay of race organizer Felix Levitan, the experiment was judged a failure when the record average speed increased (45.029km/h).

In what year was this photo taken? (5 Points)

A. 1962
B. 1963
C. 1964
