Henri Cornet (Fra)
Born: August 4, 1884, Desvres, Pas-de-Calais, France
Died: March 18, 1941
Professional: from 1904 to 1914
Henri Cornet was the most questionable of all times. Henri Cornet was awarded the Tour de France victory in 1904 four months after Maurice Garin had apparently won his second championship. After the first four places were disqualified, Cornet became the youngest TdF winner in history. He rode the Tour seven more times and finish no better than eighth in 1908. The 20-year-old Frenchman retains a unique place in the Tour's record book, as the youngest winner of the TdF. Cornet suffered health problems that slowed his career. He died on March 18, 1941 of that heart disease.
