Start List

Final Classification (1 to 40)

The 17th edition of the Tour of Flanders was held April 2, 1933.

The peloton stayed together for 100 km before attacks put stress on the peloton. A strong surge split the race and allowed a leading group of eleven riders to breakaway. The breakaway stayed clear until the finish in Wetteren.

Belgian Alfons “Fons” Schepers (La Francaise), winner of the 1929 and 1932 Liege-Bastogne-Liege Classic, sprinted past Leon Tommies (Dilecta) and defending Flanders champion Romain Gijssels (Alcyon) to win the 1933 Ronde Van Vlaanderen.

SPECIAL NOTE: The 25-year-old Alfons “Fons” Schepers was also the amateur winner of Flanders in 1930.
