Rainy Day Victory for Schepers
The 19th edition of Liege-Bastogne-Liege was held on May 9, 1929.
SPECIAL NOTE: This edition was the last one reserved only for independent riders. The race welcomed professional trade team cyclists in 1930.
A thirty-two-rider peloton headed out into a cold Belgian-Ardennes rain. A five-rider group formed after their turn in Bastogne.
The breakaway of Alphonse Schepers (Bel), Gustave Hombroeckx (Bel), Maurice Raes (Bel), Constant Struyven (Bel), and Camille De Graeve (Bel) returned to Liege more than two minutes ahead of a chasing peloton.
