1st Foreigner to Win Flanders
It was the spring of 1923 and Flanders excitement was beginning to mount. The start list included the top riders from all over Europe . Swiss rider Heiri Suter stole the spotlight when Belgian sprinter Charles Deruyter punctured in mid-sprint. Suter became the first foreign rider to win the prestigious Tour of Flanders.
