                - February 1 - Jackson's Wardrobe Malfunction:  a wardrobe malfunction (known as “Nipple Gate”) had Janet Jackson's breast  exposed during the half-time show of Super Bowl XXXVIII.                   - February 12 - In a directive issued by Mayor Gavin  Newsom, San Francisco began issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
 
                   
                 
              
                  - March 3 - Belgian brewer Interbrew and  Brazilian rival AmBev agreed to merge in a $11.2 billion deal. The  merger formed InBev, the world's largest brewer.

                Ronald Reagan (1911-2004) 40th US  President (1981-89) and actor, died at 93 Jun 5 
                 
                Ray Charles (1930-2004) American singer and  pianist, who pioneered soul music (major songs: "Georgia on My Mind";  "Mess Around"; "Hit the Road, Jack"), died Jun  10 at 73. 
                 
                Rodney Dangerfield (1921-2004) American  comedian and actor (Caddyshack), died at 82. 
                 
              Notable Deaths in Sports -  
              
                * World Road Race Champion: Alberic “Brik” Schotte (1919-2004) Belgian cyclist won the World Road Race Championship 1948, 1950.  He died April 4 at 84. 
                 
                * World Road Race Champion: Gerrie Knetemann (1951-2004) Dutch cyclist won the 1978 World Road  Race Championship. He died Nov  2 while riding his bike at the age of 53. 
                * Tour de France/Giro d'Italia Champion: Marco  Pantani (1970-2004) Italian cyclist won the 1998 Tour de France and 1998 Giro d'Italia. He died February  14 of acute cocaine poisoning at the age of 34.
