First 2 Time Winner of Flanders
The 11th edition of the Tour of Flanders was held on April 3, 1927.
SPECIAL NOTE: again, this year the course featured 2 categorized ‘bergs’ climbs:
After multiple attacks Gerard Debaets (J.B. Louvet-Wolber), 1924 Flanders winner, broke away solo from six rider breakaway group. The Belgian rode into the velodrome alone to secure the 1927 Flanders victory.
Belgians Gustave Van Slembrouck (J.B. Louvet-Wolber) and Maurice Dewaele (Wonder) completed the podium.
SPECIAL NOTE: Debaets earned the honor of becoming the first 2-time winner of the Tour of Flanders.
